In Sweden there are many descendants of a dutch family Facht. They emerged in Finland (then part of Sweden) in the 16th or the 17th century. They were merchants, prominent in the city of Turku, often referred to as “Hollender”. The oldest member known of is one Wellam Facht, born in the 16th century and decesed in 1629, maybe the first immigrant of this family. He had at least two sons, Peter (decesed in 1657) and Cornelius (decesed in 1646). Peter was one of the top traders and traded the coast of the Baltic but also e g Amsterdam, where he must have appeared before the court to claim his demands of local partners like Cloppert.
I would be very interested in hearing anything about the origin of this family, their appearances in courts and other scenes.
